This commission based program allows affiliate marketers to place ads on their websites or other advertising efforts such as email distribution in exchange for payment of a small commission when a sale results.

www.onlineuniversalwork.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6285930287778705862.post-49478742378463896452009-12-15T10:24:31.518-06:002009-12-15T10:24:31.518-06:00Mostly good observations, but I'd take issue w...Mostly good observations, but I'd take issue with "general rules" #7.

The only way for a musician or band to actually get better is by performing for people.

There are no shortcuts to this, and for a lot of bands means playing to nobody a number of times a year.

Learning to handle the on-the-spot issues that crop up on stage vs. the practice studio/space is key to controlling the 'product' and can't be underestimated.

Amp goes out? what do you do? PA feeding back? Strings break? Drummer drunk?

And, I'd add, bands who truly care about being seen in context in a live performance lose money on shows in the early years because they forked over the $$$ to hire an invisible, but absolutely invaluable member: the soundguy.

James T.James Thttp://jamesturner.canoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6285930287778705862.post-47078256853729748132009-12-15T10:16:26.930-06:002009-12-15T10:16:26.930-06:00Hey,

You might as well just invest your own money.

The "honesty box" approach was actually first done by Canada's own Jane Siberry, but it took Radiohead to take it to the mainstream.

I think he'd say that it's not a bad business model, but that there'd better be something you are selling for actual money at the same time. I'm sure Radiohead isn't hurting for T-shirt sales and other stuff!Kenton Larsenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09288769050712529811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6285930287778705862.post-52043388006645724772009-12-14T20:44:23.703-06:002009-12-14T20:44:23.703-06:00(sorry, ignore that Radiohead comment. Especially in the age of social media, is it becoming easier for bands to cut out the middleman (labels), market themselves and take a healthier cut of the profits?

Interesting math here: http://www.negativland.com/albini.htmlMattnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6285930287778705862.post-68706895210713622512009-12-14T19:59:44.879-06:002009-12-14T19:59:44.879-06:00Some great insights, thanks for posting this, Kent...Some great insights, thanks for posting this, Kenton!Aggie Semeniukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11557572760960639300noreply@blogger.com
